So I think it's been

So I think it's been below freezing for 2 weeks straight now. I think it's starting to get to people's heads. Two people at work quit today.. just walked right out. Makes my job fun for the next few weeks. Oh well, we'll get through it; we always do.

I had this past weekend off which was nice. Kinda a rough weekend... I think I was worn down from the past few weeks of non-stop go go go. Not that I'm complaining - I've been enjoying most everything I'm doing. Just that it's kinda wearing on me a bit when I don't take time for myself to rest. I've really been enjoying the stuff I'm doing for The Pride Center. Working on a conference, and just generally helping out here and there. Last week I went up and opened up shop for a few hours while I did some work. I think I'm going to go do that again tomorrow. Have to work on the meeting minutes and do some stuff with the website that I've been thinking about.

Jon is away on a business trip. I miss him already. It's so odd to come home and not have him here. We went and looked at houses this weekend - not that we're planning on doing anything right now, but it's good to plan for the future.

Hoping to hit some Geocaches this week sometime. Of course it would be helpful if it wasn't below zero all the time and snowing. :) Maybe tomorrow or Thursday will warm up a bit. Cross your fingers.

What an interesting weekend! Saturday

What an interesting weekend! Saturday night was pretty slow, but tonight was just full of surprises. To start with I took a nosedive onto the floor. Apparently there was something slippery on the floor (I still don't know what) and I just lew off my feet. Kept pretty busy most of the night, especially when the 65 year old shoplifting woman came in. This woman got $1800 of jewelry into her handbag. Of course they got her. craziness...

Lucy was in a mood this morning. First she wanted to be held, then she didn't, then she did... then she scratched the heck out of me trying to jump. She seems to be in a better mood now - she had a nice nap in the sun this afternoon. I would have liked a nice nap. Jon got much of the storage room in the attic framed up. It's going to be a nice sturdy wall. Kathy went through a bunch of the boxes up there and got rid of some stuff. Amazing what she did! Now I need to start going through my stuff...

This stuff with N Korea is getting a little scary. Leave it to Mr. Bush to get us into conflict with 2 countries at the same time. Well, I guess it's really not his fault, but I hope he does what is needed on the diplomatic front to get it taken care of soon.

Board elections are this week at The Pride Center. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to run for Secretary. Also going to see if we can get the PayPal thing going. I hope so because I think it would mean more, convenient access to membership dues and stuff. Hope everything goes ok on Tues... Jon and I didn't get to spend a whole lot of time together this weekend since I was working, but the time we did spend together was nice and relaxing. I'm looking forward to next weekend when I open so we can spend our evenings together. Closing kinda throws everything off.

Off to bed. later...

YAY!!! The day has finally come! Cedar Point finally announced what that monstrosity in the park is. It's going to be the tallest (420ft), fastest (120mph) coaster in the world. The name is catchy - Top Thrill Dragster. Check it out.. would you be brave enough to ride it? Cedar Point

So last night was the new board members orientation for The Pride Center. How exciting! We sat around and talked about all the technical stuff, but afterwards just went nuts talking about thoughts and ideas about what we could do. Had some great conversation about a possible conference as well as a new group for The Pride Center. Very exhilerating!

Thing that made my night last night: Went to Acme for some munchies after the meeting and as I was checking out, the cashier says that she really likes my scarf. Well, I made that scarf myself. So she thinks I'm joking, but sure enough I'm not. What a complement! Yes, I actually crocheted a scarf, and it actually looks and works like a scarf. Sometimes I amaze myself.

So I had something really profound to write about here this evening, but it's late and I seem to have forgotten. It'll come to me in the middle of the night. (or as soon as I log off of Blogger.com)

Taboo: Witchcraft

That was the name of the program I just watched from The National Geographic Channel. How disturbing! The program started off with people from Mexico practicing something that I wouldn't even identify as witchcraft. They were shaking around and sacrificing chickens. UGH! Then they showed some woman who said a witch had hexed her. Then they went to S Africa where witchcraft was used as social control. (kinda like the Christian churches here). Later in the program they went to the US and England for a "modern" look at witchcraft.
The problem I have with this program is that the topic is far too general to do any good. Granted witchcraft was the general topic, but in the same regard, it's like saying this is Hispanic Culture, then starting out with a gang of Latino thugs. Granted it exists, but it doesn't represent Hispanic culture. I think the lesson here is to really mind what you take to be the truth - even from seemingly reliable sources such as National Geographic. Even they apparenly play the sensationalistic game when it comes to getting viewers.

This was my first weekend

This was my first weekend off since November, and boy was it needed! Nice to have 2 weekend days off in a row. Almost forgot what it was like... Yesterday we went up to visit my sister and see her new place. It's coming along quite nicely although there's still some stuff to do there. Went out to Rocknies with the family after that. Then Jon and I went out to CompUSA where I got Star Trek: Armada (cool so far) and a new optical mouse (very nice). Today we went out Geocaching in the freezing cold. Found the cache though and had a nice hike through the park.

Tomorrow night is the board member's orientation at The Pride Center. That should be interesting and enlightening. I also need to call the founders of the NEOGeocaching Yahoo! Group to talk about the website for the group. I may not be able to do anything super fancy, but at least we could have a presence on the internet for all those interested. I wish I could do something like the Maryland (I think) Geocache site, but you need to have MySQL on your server which I do not. Well, I'm going to go upload pics off of my camera and chill out for the rest of the night. Gotta be back at work tomorrow morning.
