Marriage moves forward in CA

| | Comments (0)

I'm reading that this is a historic day - one in which a legislative group voted in favor of same-sex marriage. It's not a huge step, but it's one step anyway. The Marriage License Nondiscrimination Act (AB 1967) was approved by the Judiaciary Committee and will move forward to Appropriations. I'm not that familair with all the steps a bill takes before making it to the floor for a vote, but I hope there aren't too many hurdles. It would be nice if it would at least make it for a vote. Apparently the vote in the JC was along party lines - 8 democrats against 3 GOPers. I'm disliking the republicans more and more each day... I wonder why.
I very much hope that Californians will see this bill pass. It would be a wonderful day for queer people out there and all over the country. We'll get there eventually, baby steps at a time. Apparently equality takes time...
