This week I noticed on the TV machine that the US Congress was voting to condemn the MoveOn.org ad that mentioned General Petraeus. Three words for this: WTF? Since when was it the business of the government to condemn a private organization's free speech? You may or may not agree with the sentiment, but we aren't in China here - we can all say what we want individually or collectively. Hell, they don't condemn statements by right wing groups when they bash gay people....
The next Republican or Democratic member of Congress that wonders why they have a collective 11% approval rating should perhaps think about the fact that they're not actually doing anything. Although I'm sure some of them really are hardworking, it seems it's all about stalemate and pandering. Most of us who work for a living would be fired for getting those kinds of results. Hmmm.... wouldn't it be fun to write reviews for congressfolks?
I was just reading a news story about ENDA and its possibilities of passing in the House and Senate. Of course the article published remarks from critics of the non-discrimination bill, and as usual they are so stupid I could fart.
And I noticed something.. I used to get really pissed off at that stuff, and I would come on here and write and bitch and complain. Today, I simply think to that idiotic person, "F you." When John Edwards said blatantly that he is against gay marriage, I simply said "F you." It's not that I don't get angry anymore, and not that I don't call politicians and write letters, etc, etc. But sometimes this crap just gets so old. Kinda like an old hemorrhoid - eventually the tube of Preparation H just runs out.
I hate email forwards. I really don't care that you passed this on to 10 people (who are now all irritated with you, by the way) and now you're going to have good luck for 5 minutes. And I dont care about the new virus thats just been discovered (about 5 years ago). But it really hacks me off when I get crap that I downright find offensive.
I've gotten this email from friends and family members, and it's from this person who apparently some believe should run for president. This person apparently has little respect for other cultures or religions, and I think thats her downfall. I dont want her for president.. You could scrub a toilet with her words.
Friday will be the end of a very long week - actually not a week but 10 days straight of 100 hours of work. Of course it will be the big climax with a store visit and taking three trucks. But when I leave for the weekend, I will have two whole days off to recuperate. (Advil Liquigels are wonderful - little bits of blueish goodness) Even better is that yesterday was my last day of class for 2 weeks! I think I got another A.
Looking forward to my feet touching the ground this weekend...
"What is the greatest threat facing us now? People will say it's terrorism. But are there any terrorists in the world who can change the American way of life or our political system? No. Can they knock down a building? Yes. Can they kill somebody? Yes. But can they change us? No. Only we can change ourselves. So what is the great threat we are facing?"
- Colin Powell, in USA Today
According to an (unnamed) computer company rep, on a laptop I am getting a 2.0 Intel Professor and a Nevada (Nvidia) video card. Oh yeah, and 2 gigahertz of RAM.
Funny thing on HP's website.. when you click on an icon to "Discover how customer care can help you resolve your problem..." you get this:

"[Labor Day] is celebrated annually on the first Monday in September and to most, it signifies the end of summer and beach vacations."
Crap, I think I missed a vacation!
"Labor Day may not have the same meaning that it did when it was created..."
Ya think?
Have a delightful day off, a lovely picnic, and don't harass the people who celebrate Labor day by laboring...

Ok, so it's a stupid pet peeve... you know there's the saying that "for all intents and purposes..." blah blah blah.. I cannot stand when people say that "for all intensive purposes...." That changes the meaning of it rather significantly, don't you think? One writer thinks that it due to people not reading much... Could be.
Here's another one though, and I wonder what the answer is. Would you say that something someone did that is mean or backstabbing is "dirty poo" or is it "dirty pool?"
OK, so I searched and found my answer. It's "dirty pool" meaning "Unjust or dishonest conduct." (TheFreeDictionary.com) I thought dirty poo was more descriptive.
How did today become "fun with words day?"
By the way, you know how when you search for things, little web robots try to guess what you're doing and serve advertisements to you that correspond with what you're searching for. Like, if I'm looking for a specific USB hub, along with my search results will be "USB hubs at rock bottom prices!" Well, when you search for dirty pool....

You know, I was looking for one of those...
(more on "intents and purposes")
