recap the recap, dummy

I'm a dork when it comes to TV. I watch the Discovery channel, the Science channel, HGTV, etc. For some reason I enjoy watching people suffer through buying a new home. But I have to say this, many of these shows are either really low budget or made for stupid people. I say this because each 30 minutes of scheduled show time have about 8 minutes of content. Maybe that's because they didn't have enough money for 19 minutes. Or it's because they have to recap every 60 seconds so as not to lose the viewer.

Really though, I don't need a recap after a commercial break. And I don't need a recap after a recap. It even bothers me when news anchors feel like they have to tell you what a politician said after they just said it. (Although really no one knows what politicians say anyway..) I really don't need someone to tell me that someone just looked at a house after they looked at a house. The worst show is Living With Ed. I like the show, but I can't watch it anymore because the last time I saw it, someone said something, then someone immediately recapped what they just said.

Maybe this is a sign of what our society is coming to. First it was the short attention span with the flashy quick paced TV shows. Now we're just going to recap ourselves to death.
