closed the Starbucks

| | Comments (1)
0804082040.jpgSome people go out and party, and they end up closing down a bar or club.  Tonight I closed down an establishment with a friend, but it was a Starbucks.  Good grief..  we closed down a Starbucks.  It closed at 11pm, and they even asked for their patio chairs back.  (I guess Starbucks patio chairs are a commodity)  Hadn't planned on being out quite that late, especially with the final week of class and homework load that I've got right now.  But it was both fun and enlightening to catch up with someone that I used to work with, and to be friends outside of work.  Neither of us  typically opens up much to people we work with beyond the surface details of life, so it was interesting to get to know someone that I thought I already knew.

Afterwards I rode the motorcycle home in the dark - only the third or fourth time I've done that.  It really is oddly peaceful though, especially with hardly any traffic on the road.  Gotta use the high beams though - otherwise ya realy can't see far enough ahead, especially out on rural roads that are pitch dark after sunset.  No incidents whatsoever, unless you count that big bug that splattered on my windshield.  (thankfully not on my visor - ugh!)

50 days

That's 50 smoke-free days.  Quitnet tells me that's also about 906 cigarettes I haven't smoked.  It's much easier to not be smoking at this point, and the decision every morning to not smoke each day is getting easier.  Still have a ways to go though.  Still doing the patch program, and it's working pretty well.  About two more weeks on step 2 I think and then I'll be down to the last step.

To celebrate being over a month (37 days) smoke-free, I present you with this disgusting picture.  See, I am outgrowing my dirty habit.

staying awake

So I'm up at 3:30 in the morning having just finished a 3 day closing streak, and preparing for an overnight tomorrow.  I figured I'd better stay up tonight or I'll fall asleep in the middle of my shift tomorrow night.  In the meantime...

It appears that my trusty desktop PC is getting ready to bite the dust.  I think I built this one about 3 years ago.  I'm figuring it's time to wipe the drive and reinstall everything, but it's just such a pain.  I have everything set up just the way I want it, and I'll have to go back and reset everything.  That and I'm worried I'm going to lose some file that I saved forever ago that I might need.  (I'm an e-pack rat)  Thank goodness for the laptop! :)

I'm getting kinda tired of the political news.  Usually the junkie, I'm getting a little burned out.  I just want the March 4 primaries to be over so perhaps we can all move on.  Of course being here in Ohio with our "voting irregularities" we may not know the results of the vote for a few weeks.

Upside down

This weekend at work has been a bit crazy.  It started off with someone pooping themselves, leaving the poopy drawers in the restroom, and beyond that it seems he shook himself off causing poop to go all over.  Then I had the lady who was so intensely rude that I could barely contain myself.  You know how people smile when they are purposely being rude and it makes you want to scream?  Two 4am shifts this weekend caused a bit of brain damage, but not more than the usual.  The weekend rounded out with a person who wanted to be an employee imposter, wearing the uniform and all.  Oh, and I got a resume from someone named "Crazy."  Pass...

Tonight J and I played Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii for the first time.  I have never really been that into video games, and I thought we'd play for a little while and then I'd get tired of it.  Instead we ended up playing for almost 2 hours!  Awesome game.  Just takes some getting used to with the 3-D and the upside down stuff.  But then again that's not too far off from real life now is it?

a kayak

| | Comments (0)

Last weekend I went out on a lake in a kayak. It was the coolest experience of the camping trip. I mean that in both senses of the word. It was like 90 (humid) degrees by noon each day - you know the kind where you move your arm and you're sweating already. But I digress.. We paddled all over this lake at the state park. It only took us an hour or so to get about a mile out and then paddle back. Of course it was a very calm lake, but it was exhilarating anyway.
I used to have this inflatable boat that I used to take out on one of the lakes near the house. I always enjoyed it because it was energizing because of the exercise, but also relaxing at the same time. I think my raft is too old to take out - I think it would deflate. But I'm thinking a kayak would be fun. Now I'm reading up on kayaks - who knew there were so many different kinds? We'll see where this goes by the end of the summer...

4 weeks

1 month and not a single puff... Actually starting to feel better. My lungs don't feel as... "full" and my chest doesn't hurt as often. Things taste a little different. I think the three biggest challenges were getting really stressed at work last week, camping (during which I am used to smoking probably more than usual), and today when I forgot to put my patch on this morning. Otherwise all good. I think the Ohio Quit Line thinks I'm not doing so well though because I keep missing their calls.
